Cancellation Policy
Last Updated: December 5th 2025
We understand that plans can change. The following Cancellation Policy outlines notice requirements, refunds, and fees associated with cancelling or rescheduling services with The Chef Nextdoor.
By booking our services, you agree to the terms outlined below.
1. General Policy
-
All cancellations or rescheduling requests must be submitted in writing (email or confirmed messaging).
-
Notice periods are based on the scheduled service date, not the booking date.
-
Failure to provide adequate notice may result in fees due to grocery purchases, scheduling commitments, and lost service time.
2. Weekly & Bi-Weekly In-Home Meal Preparation
-
A minimum of 7 days’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule services.
-
This notice is required because groceries are purchased in advance.
-
Once groceries have been purchased for a scheduled service, the service may not be cancelled.
-
This policy is in place because ingredients are sourced specifically for each client and cannot be returned or reused.
Late Cancellations (Less Than 7 Days’ Notice)
Clients will be responsible for:
-
Any grocery costs already incurred by The Chef Nextdoor, and
-
50% of the normal service fee as a late cancellation charge.
3. Meal Preparation Delivery Services
-
48 hours or more before delivery: Full refund
-
24–48 hours before delivery: 50% refund
-
Less than 24 hours before delivery: No refund
Refunds do not include delivery fees once incurred.
4. Private Experiences & Holiday Feasts and Dinners
Due to the planning, ingredient sourcing, and scheduling required, the following applies:
-
30 or more days’ notice: Full refund
-
Within 30 days of the event: 25% of the deposit is retained; 75% refunded
-
Within 14 days of the event: Deposit is retained in full
-
Within 7 days of the event: Deposit is retained, and additional losses related to the cancellation may be pursued
5. Deposits
-
Deposits are required to secure private experiences and holiday services.
-
Deposits are applied toward the total service cost and are subject to the cancellation terms above.
-
Deposits are non-refundable except as expressly stated in this policy.
6. Rescheduling
-
Rescheduling is permitted based on availability.
-
If a service or event cannot be rescheduled due to lack of availability, the applicable cancellation policy will apply.
-
Rescheduling does not reset cancellation timelines.
7. Chef-Initiated Cancellations
If The Chef Nextdoor must cancel due to illness, emergency, or unforeseen circumstances:
-
Clients will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a full refund, including any deposit paid.
8. No-Shows
-
Failure to be present or provide access to the service location at the scheduled time is considered a same-day cancellation and is non-refundable.
9. Agreement
By booking services with The Chef Nextdoor, clients acknowledge and agree to this Cancellation Policy as part of our Terms of Service.
